Through the Garden Gate: Bananas and Palms, a classic English Garden?

Author: Neil Fairbrother

With global warming already with us, the traditional English country garden is under threat and in future years will look very different. In this gardening video podcast, Adrian Miles takes us through a possible future classic English garden, comprising bananas such as Musa Bajoo, Ensete Ventricosum, Musa "Dwarf Cavendish" and Ente Ventricosum Maurelii as well as palms like the Chusa Palm, the well known Yucca and Torbay varieties, Sky Duster and European Fan Palm.

Of course many of us have much more traditional English plants which bear fruit at this time of the year and we look at a pair of pears, the Williams bon Cretien and Doyenne du Comice. We also kill off some Bindweed. WARNING: if you don't like spiders, you may have to hide behind the settee!
