Paul Ohea: From £100 million to Startup in 6 weeks
“Family Business” conjures up an image of a small, local business, maybe turning over a few hundred thousand a year. Paul O’Hea’s family business was somewhat larger, with annual turnover of £100,000,000 and employing about 1,000 people worldwide.
Paul was the 3rd CEO, the company having been founded by his grandfather in 1931. He led the classic life that the CEO of a large international company leads - lots of international travel, PA’s, exec teams, hotels, high salaries... and he bailed out to do his own thing.
In this video podcast, we learn that Paul is still extraordinarily busy, but now he’s in start-up mode and has had to learn some new skills, such as renewing the car tax and how to switch the computer on. Although his team is growing, he still licks the stamps.
In this honest and open account Paul discusses what made him leave behind the high powered executive role and how he coped with the transition from that fully resourced world, to the “do-it-yourself-or-it-won’t-get-done” world of the start-up entrepreneur.
