GALLERY 435 NEWSLETTER #14

http://www.gallery435.com

Brace yourselves, you ain't seen nothin' like this before...............................

Less than 2 weeks to go and preparations for our UNCENSORED exhibition are gathering pace with our charismatic featured artist Angela Edwards barely able to contain her excitement. Last time we saw her she was jumping up and down in the street and bestowing us with hugs and kisses. We must say, it's nice to be appreciated! Someone's even circulating a rumor that 'Stuckist' artist Charles Thompson will be poping down from London for the opening night, though we don't like to indulge in such idle art celebrity tittle-tattle ourselves.

You'd better come along to the launch on 12 June, 6pm - 9pm to find out if Angela is still bouncing and the rumors are true. Details on the website as ever:

If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.........................................................

In a world that values quantity over quality it seems that the final proof of ones popularity is in the number of friends in your online social network. We've had a presence on Myspace for some time but now it seems that Facebook is de rigueur, so we've created a Facebook group profile here:

If you're still hanging around on Myspace then join us using this other link.

Everyone on the mailing list can look forward to an email from our lovely P.R. guru inviting them to sign up as a facebook 'friend'. Though artistic integrity is high on the agenda for Gallery 453 we've never claimed we are above our base desire for popularity. Don't you know we just want to be loved?!

Back by popular demand....................................................................

We're delighted to announce Lynn Andrews will be the first local artist to exhibit in our experimental arts space. A smaller area at the gallery where artists can explore and develop their work. Lynn is back by popular demand after exhibiting in our 'Random?' show last spring. Last time she combined CCTV with an indoor lawn (yes, really. It needed regular watering too) and a plethora of evocative sensory experiences in an installation that wowed visitors of all ages. We've given her free reign to excite and surprise us and can't wait to see what she comes up with. You can view her installation at the same time as the main show, from 12 June to 29 June, 1pm - 5pm, Thursday to Sunday.

Mix Fennerfest, Absinthe and Angela. Light blue touch paper...............................

Anarchic festival organizers 'Fennerfest' are taking over Gallery 435 for one night only on Friday 20 June. In an absinthe laced evening inspired by our artist Angela Edwards they invite participants to come along for revelry, mayhem, eccentric conversation and spontaneous creativity. Special guests include the Marquis de Sade, William Boroughs and Angela herself. What happens from there is up to you. No-one knows what to expect until you arrive on the night and make things happen!

'An evening of Art, Angela and Absinthe' is on Friday 20th June, 8 p.m. 'til late at Gallery 435

Kids workshop............................................................................

Perceptive members of our readership will no doubt have noticed that our main show is less than child friendly. The clue is in the title really! Not neglecting our younger fan base though, visual artist Valerie Oliver has devised a series of stunning free workshops for children of all ages. Inspired by our featured artist, the workshop gives children the opportunity to create their own piece of art. Spaces are limited and booking in advance is recommended, though you can turn up on the day if you're feeling lucky!

Workshops run on Saturday 14, 21 and 28 June, 1pm - 5pm. Sessions last approximately 1 hour and are fully supervised so that adults can view the exhibition. Email zoe.hatch@gmail.com to secure a place.
